Dear friend of Paul Artspace,
Paul Artspace is operating at a deficit. While 2019 was another successful year for the residency program, it also brought some unexpected expenses that required immediate attention to ensure the safety of our residents and guests on the property along with the well-being of the Paul Artspace organization.
Here is a detailed list of those expenses:
New HVAC unit $2,500
new tractor for maintaining our “six acres of love” $2,000
repairs to a water leak that involved relocating underground electric service to an overhead meter base $3,700
a professional consultation with Alliance of Artists Communities to assist with the Strategic Planning process $3,900
Forthcoming, there are general expenses that are due: property tax estimated at $3,700 and an upgraded insurance policy at $4,500 that better meets the needs of our growing organization.
Our expenses total over $20,000. Although we have had a record year for donations in 2019, these costs have nearly doubled our annual operations budget.
The strength of Paul Artspace is only as strong as its supporters. We held a garage sale in September and raised over $1,300 for Paul Artspace and The Bermuda Project. Board members and other loyal donors have provided a helping hand in this time of need by donating an additional $1,900, but we still have a long way to go to resolve these expenses before the end of the year. We need your help.
We’re pulling out all the stops to raise an additional $10,000 before December 31st, and we are asking you to give what you can to keep this organization going.
Because of our work and support from donors like you, artists throughout Saint Louis, the United States, and in 18 countries around the world have expanded their research and understanding of other places and people during their time at Paul Artspace. This is the power of community and creative practice in action, and the network we have made illustrates how they may enrich, empower, and improve the human experience. Time, space, understanding, reflection, community- these are all things the world can use more of. Through our small program, we have accomplished much, but we know there is much more to do.
Please consider making a donation of $50 or more to Paul Artspace. We have several options to make it as easy as possible for you to support us:
